The end!

The number of those killed in Beijing massacare on June 4th, 1989 has never been officially disscovered. Mayor of Beijing, Chen Xi-tong wrote a report saying no one, including those who refused but who were forced to leave, died"

This made me so angry that I went crazy, anything that I believed in China had gone right through me, I couldnt take it anymore. The model that I was building on the PLA I had totally destroyed it. My dad had to calm me down.

I asked him if anything would be the same now? He says to me we cant let this bring us down. A few seconds later he says smiling at me right Shanty? my only reply was, Its Shan Da dad :) !

Almost the end! - June 28th

When me and dad returned home Mom was waiting at the airport for us. She took us home and made us some nice warm soup to make us feel welcome back in Toronto. I had to take a bath to get all of this stuff off me. It feels so good to be clean again! Dad takes something out of my shirt pocket. He asks me what they are I tell him there the tapes from the massacare. He couldnt believe his eyes! and he also couldnt wait to send these to CBC to put on the news so the whole world could know! I had competly forgotten about them! I was to happy to remeber them! This all turned out good except for Lao Xu and Xin -hua. My mom cryed when I told her about her. It was kinda sad thought what had tohught to be everyones heros turned out to be the worlds newest enimies.

June 8th -9th

So we set off on the che it hurt alot I couldnt find the right possision to put my leg on! It hurt so much. After travling for a while we stoped somewhere to sleep ! all though I didnt sleep much Xin-hua did. After she woke up she had some food then we went off again. After going for a while we met some soldiers Xin-hua told me to lie down so i pretended to be a sleep! The solider was talking to her very fast in chinese. The soldier walked over to me. Xin-xua told me to run on her count. I couldnt get far sinse my leg. Untill some man from the side streets was doing something that the guards had to go for back up. They told Xin-xua to leave. So we were on our way....again. We got to a road block befor the airport since we desided to go there instead of the embassy. They road block soldiers kept asking Xin-xua questions. They took her away. Into the woods. I was yelling at the soldiers to take me not her. I heard gun fire. A tear ran down my face. The soldiers told me to get and leave for the airport I was still screaming at them when I was leaving. I got to the airport and the people working told me Candian travlers go up there. I seen a whole bunch of people. Maybe one of them was dad. Thats him I tought in my head. It was it took him a few seconds to clew in it was me. Then he stood up and we hugged. We got on the plain and left for home! I was so happy

It seems like a long time since the massacare happend. Also a long time since I was shot in the leg. It still has a really sharp pain, my head is killing me. Nai-Nai made some more tea for me and some nice steamy rice. I really wanted to see Dad and Eddie. I kept thinking in head what had happend to them. A tear ran down my face as I thought they could be dead. I wanted to go back to the Beijing Hotel because maybe thier there. Or maybe atleast one of them is there. So we decided to leave . Xin-hua was gonna take me to embassy to see if my dad went there since it was to life threating to go to the hotel. They dyed my hair with shoe pollish to make me look chinese and they made me wear a hat and put on sunglasses. We got ready and went to sleep till the morrning. I really needed to find my dad.

June 6th

I woke up on something hard with a sharp pain in my leg. I dont really remember what happened and I also dont know were I am. I tryed to open my eyes but it felt like they were glued shut. I heard foot steps. I didnt know what to do so I just layed there waiting, waiting for something to happen. There was a voice, an old ladies voice. She spoke something in Chinese that I did not understand. I could smell something. It smelt like tea. I finally opend my eyes and right infront of me there was a little old lady standing there holding a pot of tea. I shook my head yes meaning I wanted some. She gave me some and after I drank it left. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep

June 5th

I seen on the news that on June 5th that a man that nobody knew walking infront of many tanks on the streeting in china. I was watching and waiting for him the get run over. The tank reved up his engine but the tank moved to the side instead of running over the man. The man moved right back infront of the tank. They reapeated this a few times untill the man jumped on the tank. It looked like he wanted to talk to someone. After he got down, people from the side streets came over to take him away. The reporter said that man was arrested and later executed. I couldnt believe my eyes I went crazy! I just couldnt believe that the PLA, the chinese heros had to shoot so many people!

June 4th

It seems like a long time since I wrote in this but nothing really happend untill this day. This day was terrible the PLA came to Tien An Men square with thier AK47'S trying to clear the students who are protesting against the governmet for thier freedom. The PLA started shooting people. When people ran they shot them in the backs. Lao Xu went crazy and jumped infront of one of the PLA members yelling something in Chinese. After his yelling he fell to the ground. I couldnt believe me eyes. Lao Xu was my best friend and he died right infront of me. Dad was lost and did not answer the two way radio. I was alone and scared. I didnt know what to do.

This is where my journey started I was landing in Beijing! I couldnt wait to get started! Dad was sleeping untill the announcement over the PA woke him up. I couldnt believe my eyes looking down from the window to the beautiful city of Beijing. When we finnally landed there was someone waiting there for us by the name of Lao Xu. He was bassically our tour guide he helped us with every thing we wanted to know and he also tought us about the culture. Eddie the guy my dads working with says that hes a spy.I dont believe him, Lao Xu gave me the nickname Shan Da which means Tall Mountain in Chinese. This is gonna be one heck of an adventure!
